PRLog – Feb. 17, 2014 – DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. – Among the students of Douglasville’s Alexander High School, Lisa M. Green is already well known for her love of writing. But with the release of her debut novel, The First, her writing talents could soon be recognized much further afield.
“I believe that reading for pleasure is vital to our own personal happiness and wholeness. Without it, our imagination suffers,” explains Green. “I want to spark those dreams back to life and make people remember that stories are simply our way of trying to understand our own lives.”
The First’s storyline crosses boundaries between mythic and paranormal fantasy, and centers around themes of truth and trust, salvation and sacrifice. Everything about the book’s story is shrouded in mystery.
“In this story, a community is dying,” Green expounds. “Outside their village, evil beings keep the people locked away in fear. When the protagonist discovers some disturbing things—about the community’s past and perhaps their future—she, with some friends, travels beyond their known world into the wilderness beyond. The journey will lead her, and her companions, into the darkest places within themselves and make them question everything they know about their world. Before long, she discovers that her most vital beliefs are based on a deception that will rock the foundation of her entire people. To save them, she must learn to open her heart and sacrifice everything.”

Lisa M. Green began writing at a very young age and even considered a career in screenwriting or journalism. As a teacher, she enjoys educating high school students about writing.
“Reading is all about what makes you happy, and everyone’s interests vary as widely as the people themselves. My hope is that my story touches someone, somewhere, even if only for a moment in time,” says Green.
